Mastectomy & Scar Massage

There may be many reasons why breast surgery is necessary. Often these surgeries leave scaring and discomfort.  Unfortunately it seems that the primary cause of many of these surgeries is breast cancer.  So many of us have been touched by the effects of breast cancer either directly or indirectly.  As we know, It's a terrible disease that is prevalent in our society.  When my wife was diagnosed, we quickly learned the benefits massage would have post surgery.

The benefits of mastectomy massage are numerous. Massage therapy can make a world of difference to a client who has recently experienced a variety of invasive and painful tests and procedures.

Massage can relieve post-operative pain and edema, and promote the removal of toxins as it assists in the flow of lymph, blood and oxygen. Over time, clients will experience increased range of motion, reduced scar tissue, restored feeling and sensation by stimulating nerve endings, an improved body image and may become more aware and reconnected to themselves. Aside from massage generally promoting better health and overall well-being, and it just feels good!
